I think we have narrowed down a 8 night break in February to one or the other of these destinations, looking for a 5 star resort but availability not great.
Has anyone stayed in either place by the beach and what else to do aside from beach ? i think kerala has more options but flights trickier! DH wants india I think Thailand a better option!

Kerala would be wasted if you didn’t take the opportunity to travel around. It’s a massive area and the highlights are pretty spread out and require a few hours transfer each time. Kochi itself is worth about 3 nights, Alleppey would be another couple, and I definitely recommend either Thekkady or Munnar.

Goa is lovely for a beach holiday but there is not a whole lot more to do. I've been to South Goa a few times and done a couple of boat trips to see dolphins and birds on the Sal river estuary and a walking tour of the Portugese colonial architecture and market in Margao. We stay in air bnbs but treat ourselves to a 5 star hotel lunch buffet occasionally. The local street restaurants are all brilliant though. Next time we go in January we are staying a few days in the capital Panaji. Other than that we alternate between a sunbed at a favourite beach shack and yoga classes Smile

@squashyhat thanks for this, we are looking at st Regis on Varca beach or taj exotica on Benaulim beach, do you know either ?

Pointless doing a resort in India tbh - the best part is travelling around - so much to see and do away from the resort life

we were in India for a month on our honeymoon - we stayed on 2 beaches in Goa - arambol & palolem both lovely - palolem a bit more of a relaxing vibe

we got motorbikes and could travel to other beaches and stuff too for day trips

did a lot of relaxing here too

kerala we were on the go constantly - didn’t really relax as we wanted to see loads

what kind of holiday do you want op?

I love the Taj Exotica on Benaulim. It’s our base to explore Goa. So relaxing and it’s fairly easy to see the nearby sights
