Tickets booked to San Francisco!!

We've booked our tickets to San Francisco at last! We'd intended to go last year but it never happened. Still, better late than never, eh? I'm feeling so excited though it has to be said, dd2 is distinctly underwhelmed. The youth of today....

I've had loads of advice on another thread but now I want to know about shopping. Where's the best place to go around SF for clothes/shoes?

fantastic! hope you have a fab time!

no idea about the shopping though, sorry

suedonim · 08/06/2008 15:44

We're seeing ds1, which is the main reason for going, but a little light shopping never goes amiss.

Old Navy! I believe they are owned by gap... so its cheaper but pretty well made...

the obvious shopping mecca in San fran is Union Square, there is everything there that you could possibly want... Niemen Marcus, Macy's, bloomingdales, gap.... everything.. what specifically do you want to shop for?

AND HOPE YOU HAVE A FAB TIME.... oops sorry for the accidental caps lock.

suedonim · 08/06/2008 16:00

Union Square it is! Thanks. I have been to SF before but only for a weekend and not to shop. I'm looking for jeans for tall, skinny dd2 and also Converse trainers. And something for myself won't go amiss.

Macys and Nordstrom are both good for good quality clothes. Both are situated on or near Union Square.

suedonim · 08/06/2008 18:01

Thanks. Dh is now looking for Harley Davidson dealers.

Dd2 now suitably impressed. I just found Milpitas in the guide book and as we're planning to go to Montery, it seems eminently do-able! I'd love to meet for lunch - are your boys off school by then?

The American International school finished here last Thursday. The expat population of Lagos has diminished by half as they all shipped out Thursday night, lol!

I don't have your email, due to changing my email address and computer. I'll CAT you.

Not shopping, but have you read Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City? If so, tour the book locations, if not, maybe read it while you are there.

suedonim · 08/06/2008 20:36

I must keep a look out for that, I've been meaning to read it for ages.

suedonim, if you go to Macys or Bloomingdales you can get a discount card because you're an out of towner. I think its about 11% off. You can get them from the guest relations desk from both stores.

I also seem to remember that I got a gift (playing cards in a leather bound holder) when I spent over a certain amount in Bloomingdales when I was in town last June.

And yeah, Forever 21 is an excellent shop. Like Primark on steroids!

suedonim · 13/06/2008 21:42

Thanks for that tip - 11% is a lot of money!

Califrau, I was just wondering if you'd emailed me yet. I'm not hassling you - it's that the internet here does peculiar things in cyberspace!

Just come back from 5 days in San Fran. The sales are on at the moment - it's fab!

Your daughter might suit Abercrombie jeans - very slim fitting. They are so cheap eg £60 pricetag here, $60 pricetag there.

I got heaps of tops for my daughter marked down from £30 to $13.

Have a great time!

Went to San Francisco this April and I can honestly say it was THE best place I have ever been! I just love California anyhow, but this was the best! Good child friendly restaurants and loads of shopping!
