We have booked a cruise going from FL. We are going to spend 4 days there prior to the cruise and just wondered if we should split between Miami & FL or just do Miami?

any recommendations for either are welcome including best places to stay?

TIA

We spent 6 days in Miami in February staying in South Beach. We stayed at teh hotel Leslie, which was quiet, had a great little restaurant for breakfast/lunch and a lovely roof top pool which it was warm enough to use. Not all the hotels on South Beach are quiet...some are very lively indeed.

We used uber to get round, loved the food and bars round where we were staying, did a walking tour of south beach, went to a couple of musuems, liked the vibe of south beach (just check it's not spring break).

Had an unexpectedly brilliant time (we'd tagged it on the end of a work trip rather than choosing to go there if you see what I mean) and I'd happily go back.

I lived in FL. Just do Miami! So much more to do.

I’ve been to Fort Lauderdale too many times and as affluent and well heeled as it is, it’s basically just a posh neighbourhood. You can catch the River Taxi and rubber neck the big houses, go to the beach, Las Olas, River Walk, see the swimming hall of fame and, then meh. I’d go to Miami as there is more to see and do.

We are doing a split stay, there wasn’t much we wanted to do in Miami so we’ve just booked a posh resort for a night to get some beach time in, the rest we are doing a few days in Orlando (universal)

Fort Lauderdale is lovely, but there's so much to do in Miami that it's probably not really worth the hassle of changing hotels if you are only going for 4 nights before your cruise.

We really liked our pre cruise miami stay. Defintely do an everglades trip and a boat trip around the beautiful bay. There is also a very interesting villa (Vizcaya?) from the guilded age, in stunning grounds.

I prefer FL to Miami. Particularly like staying in the Las Olas Boulevard area, it's possible to walk around comfortably.
