Long weekend in East/West Sussex with 2 kids - where to stay?

Planning to visit a few friends and family dotted round my old neck of the woods, but don't want to hop from one to the other so would like to base ourselves in one place.
Everyone is based around the coast from Brighton to Chichester but not bothered necessarily about staying right on the coast, inland is fine as long as we're about an hour(ish) away.
Anyone know of anywhere relatively inexpensive to stay in July/August with a 2 year old and a 3 month old? Will consider anything other than Butlins at Bognor!

Never stayed here (guessing with youngsters you need self-catering?)

Or how about

(again not stayed here).

Bear in mind there is the Goodwood Festival on (not sure when exactly), you may find some places booked out near Chichester.

"Resorts of tiny islands with world's lovliest natural beaches"
Experience it in maldives, the favorite destination of tourists who have visited maldives!
