Bergen with a baby?

Baby due early April. We were supposed to go to Bergen this year but I’ve had hyperemesis so been unable to travel during pregnancy.

We can swap the holiday dates to the July or August when baby will be 3/4 months.

I will be a new parent so have no idea what travelling with a baby will be like. Is this doable? It’s a ground floor apartment with an outdoor deck and hot tub for context.

Bergen is not very pushchair friendly, so you’ll definitely want to wear a sling. How do you plan on feeding? If you want to bottle feed, that requires quite a bit of extra kit and fore-thought when travelling. Norway has high breastfeeding rates, and there is a cultural norm that breastfeeding in public is perfectly fine.

3/4 months is the perfect age to travel as they still sleep a lot and are not mobile. They can't go in the hot tub though if you were planning on that. Bergen is lovely!

@Forgottenmyphone my plan is to formula feed 🫣 well I’m going to try breastfeeding but I don’t want to make myself miserable trying to make it work, so pretty happy to formula but accept this adds to the faff. Thanks for advice on the sling, is that the same as a baby carrier?

@Snoken oh yeah, the hot tub was just for DH and I for when baby is asleep. IF baby sleeps :)

Bergen is lovely and the flight isnt long at all so a really decent first trip with a wee one.

A soft sling is ideal for a newborn and small baby, and structured carriers are better for when the baby is older, say 4m+.
