Sorry if this had been done to death.
We are going to Sardinia in 2 weeks and hiring a car. The cheaper hire car places don't guarantee child seats (and i wouldnt trust what they gave me) and Hertz/Avis charge £45pw. Her current seat weighs about 11 kg and is bulky and i was wondering about buying a group 2/3 seat with a back to take instead - normally 3+ /15kg. She weighs 14.5kg but is relatively tall. I can buy a decent one - like this graco one which weighs 3.5kg for the same price as hiring one and then I will have it for the future.

I've never had a problem with hire car seats - have hire 3-4 times now. They seem fine to me....one was a little more basic than ours but nothing to worry about from a safety POV. Also I chose a site which guaranteed seats but later found out that the cheaper ones are just covering themselves - you are unlikely to not get one...

thanks fymandbean. I just couldnt risk it with the car hire place we were planning to use - it would be just my luck! If i got with hertz/avis its another £70 in total hence my question re the graco one.

Noone?
