Hey my lovelies, who's been to hurghada and what's your views? Wpuld you go back again? As I said in a post before it wouldn't be my first choice of places to go to be honest but sister etc all chose there for big family holiday. Have been told different things.

I find Egypt difficult if going outside resort. If I want a week lying by the pool reading then Egypt is fine. If I want a more active holiday not a chance. I found going outside the hotel a nightmare with people approaching trying to get money etc

I went years ago. Tbh the town was just a very expensive way to get fleeced for rose oil and perfume. It’s very much a stay in the resort place. I did some lovely snorkel / scuba expeditions and a visit to a Bedouin place / camel riding in the desert which were fun.

Agree with others, it depends on what you want. The hotels are big, right on the beach and with lots going on so if you're looking for beach, pool and activities like table tennis or diving and snorkeling as well as relaxing with your extended family they're ideal although obviously consider the temperature as its so hot in the summer.

You could probably go on a paid excursion or two but it's probably not the best choice if you want to go for long walks or visit local towns on public transport.

I went on a liveaboard diving holiday a few years ago, I'd go back to do that again as the diving was fabulous but not as a beach holiday because I'd want to go somewhere I could go out and about every day without being hassled.

I looked at Egypt for next year and I choose some where else just because it was coming up expensive. For the right price I would give it a try OP.

Follow the FB group of the hotel you are thinking of staying at.

To add, the airport on the way back was horrible. Despite looking like proper airport shops they still fleeced people by 'not having change' or being sneaky with the exchange rate if you paid cash, which they preferred as 'the card machine is not working'....

Also in security, they split men and women and made all DC go in the women's queue so it was much longer and there were far fewer female security staff working.

I was on a group diving holiday that was about 50/50 men and women and all the women in the group nearly missed our flight because we got delayed at security.
