Any ideas? We will be near Grenoble for a few days and were thinking of extending to a 2 week road trip (happy to cross borders) is there anything nearby worth visiting at this time of the year.

Lac Annecy is a lovely place, you can take a boat ride and the town is very pretty.

Chamonix for a day or two, take the cable car up to top of the Aguille du Midi & the mountain train to Montenvers - Vallee Blanche & Ice Cave.

Saint Gervais Les Bains on a Thursday for the market and a ride on Le Valleen.

Megeve is very pretty.

It’s too late in the season to go hiking and you will need to carry snow chains for the car if you don’t have the 3 ^^ tyres on it.

Montreux, Lausanne, and Geneva have the best Christmas markets, decorations and lights in that region. Further north, Colmar and Strasbourg are also well worth visiting.

This is excellent - thanks - also the tip about the snow chains!

It’s not a great time of year for the mountains and a lot will be closed, including the Aiguille du Midi. A bit early for Christmas markets as well. You could definitely make a road trip out of the cities mentioned but it wouldn’t be the best use of two weeks leave if you’re limited in how much you can take.
