Alps summer holiday near Salzburg?

Looking for holiday options for next summer with active teen, we fancy Austrian Alps, initially we were looking at Seefeld but flights to Innsbruck don’t work for us, the best airport option for us is Salzburg so looking for ideas near there.

Zell am See sounds too busy for us, would rather be somewhere a bit less touristy, as long as there is still plenty of hiking and access to cable cars etc. and really nice mountain views are a must!

Don’t drive so needs to be all doable by public transport.

Any recommendations welcome!

Saalbach-Hinterglemm has exactly what you've described.

It is easy to reach on public transport from Salzburg - either on the 260 bus (it's really a coach) from the airport towards Zell am See, changing at the crossroads at Maishofen for the 680 bus up the valley to S-H; or by train to Zell am See and then the 680 bus from opposite the station. Better still, public transport is free throughout Salzburgerland - you just need to check-in in advance with your accommodation and ask them to send you the Salzburgerland Mobility Card which you can use throughout the duration of your stay.

Cable cars are also free in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, as your accommodation will provide you with a free Joker Card (make sure that the hotel or apartment is offering this) which also covers the outdoor pool and many other attractions.

Mountain views are guaranteed.

I was also going to suggest Saalbach-Hinterglemm, it sounds perfect for what you’re looking for.
