Where for Easter birthday trip?

I would like to take oh on a special holiday for his 50th. I suggested he look at ideas but as he is very busy with work deadlines I thought I might suggest a few things.

He says he would like somewhere reasonably warm and sunny with not too long a flight. So not Costa Rica eg, which otherwise might have been worth looking at.

He would like there to be things to do - historical or cultural stuff, nature stuff. He often likes things a bit off the beaten track and is saying he doesn’t want a really touristy resort. We will have teen dc with us.

He doesn’t want to do Spain or Portugal as we’ve been there a lot over the last few years.

I’ve thought of Cyprus, Canaries, Cabo Verde.

My concerns are that Cabo Verde people on old threads have said is quite hotel based. I have read it can also be quite windy at Easter. I think he might feel Cyprus and canaries are quite touristy though I’ve been to both and loved them.

Has anyone got any Easter tips for where to go in these places?

Is there else anywhere obvious I haven’t thought of?

He’s had a hard year one way and another so I want him to have a really nice break, but not feeling completely sure where to suggest!

Cyprus can be cold at Easter. I’d consider Caribbean (approx 8/9 hour direct flight) or Malaysia/Thailand at Easter if warm weather and sightseeing are important. Hope you have a great break.

Thank you @Lovetoread123 this is my worry that he will be disappointed by the reality of the weather.

Safari in namibia or kenya

On the basis it’s 6 hours flight to Cabo Verde and 7 to Antigua, I would reconsider the Caribbean in your position.

Hmmm @Wafflefinder that is a good point!

Ok I’ve looked at Antigua and it looks amazing but I think the prices are out of oh and my league!

Seville at Easter is meant to be crazy! Worth going

Andalucia should be nice-ish at Easter. As pp said, the Semana Santa stuff is crazy. Sicily or Malta might also fit the bill. Ortigia is lovely and I like Taormina though many think it's too touristy. Lots to do in that area, Etna, Alcantara gorge, Godfather Tour. There's some stunning scenery.
