Flying from Gatwick - now you can take 2L of liquid

Just thought others may have missed this change. You now can take additional liquid in your hand luggage and don’t need to take your make up and tech out of your case for the scanners.

Birmingham is the same but be wary of taking large bottles of shampoo etc - the airport you fly back from may have different rules.

Yes! Just don’t overdo it for a short trip as your return flight will likely still be 100ml so you may need to bin what you don’t use…

Yes - much easier now. But as others have said, your return airport might still be faffing about with plastic bags and small bottles. So don’t pack anything you would be upset to have to ditch at the return airport (like a big bottle of expensive shampoo, body lotion etc)

Edinburgh is the same as are a lot of the international airports. Makes life a lot easier!

I’ve never taken 200ml of anything anywhere! Just take travel size!

Linenpickle · 26/10/2025 07:39

I’m not sure you can take more than 100ml in a bottle. Please check directly with airport before travelling.

Be aware different airports have different rules. Edinburgh you can take big bottles of stuff. Gatwick everything still has to be in 100ml bottles but you can take more of it. I thought there wasn't a limit but 2l was mentioned above.

And it may not be the same coming back

I flew from Gatwick north last week. Yes you can leave liquids and iPads etc left in your bag which is nice…. BUT anyone who had liquids over 100mls bags were stopped and flagged and searched and the liquids tested so it then took ages. So I wouldn’t bother!!! Ours was stopped for a bottle of calpol which if I’d just taken it out of my bag like I used to previously in a clear bag it would have gone through no issue.
