Club Med?

DH and I, late fifties, have taken many Neilson and Mark Warner holidays with the DC growing up and like a sporty active break but we’ve never tried Club Med.

The activities look good but there seems to be an emphasis on theme nights and floor shows. Is it very full on?

If anyone has Club Med experience as an adult couple I’d appreciate hearing about it, TIA.

From experience, I’ve found that Club Med is best suited for people who don’t want to spend any time in their rooms. The whole idea is to get out and take advantage of everything that’s included. Yes it’s possible to bypass the entertainment, and it’s a pretty non-judgmental crowd, so if you opt out, nobody cares. But overall I think most of it is excellent (albeit a bit kitsch at times) and you’d be missing out.
The food is amazing - much better than a lot of other all-inclusives.

I agree with @Forgottenmyphone . We went this year with adult children and grandchildren, and are in our 50s.
Decided on club med for the activités and did loads so yes we’re barely in our room. Food was great, sometimes queues at bar ( mainly because making cocktails). Theme nights were optional ( I was all in!). Was a bit disappointed by the entertainment. The in house stuff was as above a bit kitsch but still fun if you like that sort of thing, but no pressure to go and there was other places to go instead. Any brought in entertainment was excellent ( we had a flamenco dancer). No pressure to be involved.
The activités were excellent, I didn’t get to do as much as wanted since so much. Some are more like taster sessions but excellent. Our club, reading online had a bit of a reputation of being more hotel like than club like ( I don’t know since is my only experience).

i loved it and now only want to go to club med.

have you been to Club la Santa as an alternative option

We went to Club Med a lot when DC were living at home (and we were living in France). They loved it and so did we. They still remember some of their Mini Club G.Os (staff — you have to learn a bit of jargon!) Since then it has become a bit too far upmarket (or at least, pricey) for us, and also we don't really need the entertainment and sport any more.

One thing to note is that it is a French chain and the level of English can sometimes be a bit wobbly. I remember a tennis tournament, won by a Brit. The tennis G.O. said to the winner "David, vous êtes le vainqueur... David, you are ze, euh, euh, vanker". 🤣

Thanks so much for the replies.
It sounds like it might be right for us, we’re both quite sporty and like trying new things. Good that theme nights and floor shows are optional.
We’ve ever done AI before but with all the sport tuition, food and drink it looks good value.
Neither of us speak more than school French but if we choose the Caribbean in February I would expect it to be multi national.

Guadeloupe and Martinique are French islands. They are popular with the French.

I went to one in Italy, the guests were 99% French. Shows were things like miming so anyone could understand them. Food was good, archery and tennis were very good, water-sports were nowhere near as good as Mark Warner. It was good for people watching as the French women were so beautiful and wore fabulous outfits. TBH is was like being in France.

Hi all, I'm about to book Club Med. Would anyone like to send me a referral code please? I think both myself and you would get £200 off.
