Kenya Safari February - anyone done this ?

Been looking at all sorts of options for a once in a lifetime holiday for DH and I in February. Apparently Feb is great for Kenya and Zanzibar.
Spoke to an agent who has put together an itinery 7 days safari in 3 different national parks, private tours and then 5 nights in zanzibar - looks idyllic but appreciate and advice from anyone that has done something similar. We are late 50s and early 60s if that helps - full of energy and looking for adventure!

Can’t advise on the season, we’re going in August (school holidays). Out of season but flights still extortionate. Watching with interest though. What parks are you doing?

Aug is peak season for east africa. Feb is the short dry season - I went last Feb and going again next Feb. It could rain, could also be very hot! The parks will be lush and green which is v pretty but makes game viewing slightly more challenging just because of long grasses - but when a lot of animals have babies as it’s safer. And babies are CUTE!
it’s generally cheaper than July/aug/sept and less busy - hence why I love it!

We have done it but it was about 12 years ago. I have to say though, it was one of the best holidays we’ve ever had!

Thanks 🙏 @PurBal looking at Masai Mara, lake Nakuru and elementaita and Amboselli NP then Zanzibar for 5 nights.

option is for private or small tours, and either lodges or luxury tents which look amazing !

@Amberkitten7654321 what company did you organise yours with ?

I’ve been several times but most recently at Easter - first time in rainy season and I absolutely loved it. The baby animals were absolutely amazing. We booked with Kuoni - tailored what we wanted and every bit was faultless. I’ve done it myself when I was younger and childless but it wasn’t without drama! This way every single thing was arranged - the local companies they contract were brilliant. We did Lake Nakuru with a private driver and then drove to Mara and stayed in Governors Camp. Then flew back to Nairobi - we had a few days either side in Nairobi to see the city, giraffe and markets. Zanzibar is nice - Stone Town is worth a visit as well as the beaches.

If you travel to Zanzibar it is compulsory to buy their travel insurance from ZIC prior to arrival even if you have your own travel insurance. It costs $44 per person

Failure to do so could deny you entry into Zanzibar.

We went a few years ago to Kenya in February. It was the most wonderful holiday we have ever had. Our holiday was organized by Aardvark Travel and they were so helpful. We stayed in the North Mara Conservancy at a place called OffBeat Mara. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Elsa’s kopje and Saruni, both amazing. And Manda Bay. Although you could skip Manda if going to Zanzibar.
