DH is working there so i can get in on his free accommodation and just pay for my flight.

id be alone all day, is it a nice city for a lone woman to walk around in? It seems there’s plenty of museums/things to do. Has anyone been and what did you enjoy?

I used the hop on hop off bus pp mentioned. The national cathedral is worth the trek, has a piece on moon rock in a stained glass window.
It’s been years since I went but I remember it feeling a nice, clean city compared to others. And so much to do.

The last federal shutdown lasted 35 days so hopefully things should be normal by next March.

I would also recommend a tour of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (you would need to book this in advance) as you get to see how US currency is printed (you can buy some too in their gift shop!). Also the duck tour is good (vehicle floats on the water and I believe starts at Union station).

I’ll be there in March. Hopefully they’ll have reopened by then! I also imagine it’ll be quite cold. I’m a runner so I quite fancy the idea of jogging around all the monuments if that’s a possibility

March is a great time to go, it will be starting to warm up and probably the cherry blossoms will be out. Running around the Mall area is a great plan, plenty of people do that.
