Good solo diving destinations?

I have done Thailand and Indonesia. Was thinking Caribbean but dive rates are double if not quadruple the cost in Thailand.

Any suggestions?

Egypt And Gozo (Malta) are good

I think the dive centre makes as much difference as the location. So somewhere they do a good job of matching up buddies, and that are willing to manage divers who are less competent than they think they are.
I really rate Coraya Divers in Marsa Alam and Camel divers in Sharm.

Plus, always compare the price on the PADI website for buying a block of dives at your chosen center in advance.

Can’t go wrong with Red Sea, amazing variety of sealife. Caribbean is expensive and the diving varies a lot between the islands. How about sharks? Bahamas has excellent shark diving. Mexico/Akumal has loads of turtles. Grenada diving I found was only average but the island made up for it, very safe to go out and about in the evening and lots of places to visit. Jamaica diving was pretty good but you need to be careful when out and about.
Do you prefer shore or boat diving? Anything particular you’d like to see? And how important is the non-diving aspect? Live aboard? Could be good if you’re solo and looking for social dive friends. Maldives? Although I’ve heard the sealife isn’t what it was in some parts.
Maybe have a look at some of the specialist dive travel companies, the websites usually list the local dive sites, what to see, visibility etc, would give you an idea of all the options.

I went solo diving in Zanzibar and loved it - lots of dolphins! Definitely agree that the dive shop makes all the difference though when you’re solo. I went withBuccaneer Diving in Paje and would recommend. Panama is also a nice affordable dive spot

What time of year? As you’d presumably want to pick somewhere with good diving conditions at that time.

I agree that picking the right place to stay is as important as the right country. In the Maldives for example there are a couple of very diver centric islands where you will find plenty of fellow divers, frequent boat dives and decent dive prices. Eriyadu, Embudu, maybe Ellaidhoo or Kuramathi. Possibly Dhigurah (local island not a resort). Other islands however will have fewer divers.

Dahab in Egypt would be full of divers I’d expect.
