23kg luggage allowance for 4 night trip for me and one dc - do I need one or two suitcases?

I bought one large suitcase but I am thinking whether I need two?

It will hopefilly be a long haul flight over christmas - dc is 6.

One pair of trainers and one pair of crocs for each of us

Joggers and jeans each
Underwear
A couple of jumpers each
Maybe a spare coat

Would you think I should take two suitcases, and have to potentially lug them both about NYC

Or will one suffice?

Tia x

Why are you decanting them though, there's no size restriction on what goes in the hold

I will just need a few 100ml bottles then for dd's squash on the way there and back.

Phew!

I’ve been to NY in early January and it was very cold. I was happy to have my long, hooded puffer coat. Crocs would have been totally inappropriate choice for footwear. Add the wind chill factor which could make the temp feel more like -20C. If you haven’t been much outside of London, it’s hard to understand how brutal the cold can be.

I hope you and your DC will have a wonderful trip though, I keep my fingers crossed you’ll get mild weather and some soft springling of snow ❄️

I enjoyed rummaring at TJ Maxx, prices were reasonable there (in 2022).

Yeah I will be taking 10 100ml bottles in the suitcase but do wonder whether I can take additional 100ml bottles in hand luggage? Dd will only drink one brand of squash 😪

Is that 10 x 100ml bottles of squash? or are you talking about shampoo? Surely you only need one small bottle of shampoo (like, one hair wash each?), one of deo for you and a few travel size moisturisers?

If it's all squash, I can't imagine how your dd will get through a litre of pre-diluted squash in four days?

Dd only drinks squash so want to make sure I have enough and don't run out

It doesnt matter anymore as I can just take a bottle of squash in the suitcase to go in the hold

Its only hand luggage that has the 100ml restriction

Tolls? Tips? For a taxi??

😄😄

Edited

Yeah the taxi will have to pay tolls to get from JFK into Manhattan so they pass the cost on to you. Tips are discretionary to a point but non-negotiable when it comes to cabs. Pony up, I’m afraid.

Check with your airports because some aren’t even limited to 100ml in your hand luggage any more!
