Efteling - journey advice/itinerary please!

Hi, planning a trip to Efteling in one of the half term holidays next year (probably October) 2 kids (14 and 3). We will be travelling by car from Northern England and just wanted advice on best route and itinerary (never been before). I'd like to stay in the Efteling village for 3 nights, take our time around the park, come back to use the pool, play parks and chill. I'd like to do a day or 2 in and around Amsterdam on the way (or someone else nice if anyone has any tips) and then a night somewhere on the way home. We would be away for a week in total. So any advice gratefully received. Thank you!

but I would say: we loved staying at the Bosjrik village, and have had a couple of stays in Dutch centerparcs which have been great. de Eemhof is close to Amsterdam.

Is there a ferry from Newcastle to Holland? If so it will be a pleasant if pricey way to save lots of driving. Driving in NL is dead easy.

You could sail Newcastle Amsterdam, that would give you your time in Amsterdam. On the way back Rotterdam is closer to efterling from there the ferry sails to hull in the evening.

Has anyone been in May versus going in October?
