Liberty of the Seas with teen

Looking at booking a Northern Cities cruise, Liberty of the Seas with Royal Carribean. This will be our first cruise (with 14 yrs DS). The activities etc look great. DS is young for his age. He likes to go off exploring and we are ok with that in hotel resorts. Just wondering about a cruise ship. If you’ve been with kids similar ages did they go off and do their own thing, did it feel safe to do?

Also any feedback or tips from anyone who has done this cruise would be much appreciated. Looking at an August option.

A cruise is more secure than a hotel resort. He will need his cruise card to access the room so will need it with him, which will carry any info any staff member would need.
The cruise card has to be scanned to leave the ship and under 16s can’t leave without a member of their party.
There are staff everywhere. I wish I had known all this when my daughter was a teen.
He should be fine to explore the ship and set rules on what he can charge to the cruise card.

That’s brilliant, thanks for the info!
