Does anyone else think that Disney and Center Parcs are actually a social experiment?

Just that really. Both brands have such a cult following. I visit both regularly and the quality of the “product” is declining rapidly but the price is increasing exponentially….wondering if they are seeing how far they can push it while we (including me!) continue to pay it.

That just sounds like capitalism, not a social experiment

Arlanymor · 23/09/2025 19:52

No, they are just corporate capitalism at its advertised best. If you want to be a member of the ‘cult’ that’s up to you!

I know when I've gone to just use the spa and I walk through a centre parcs and I do think that identikit families.

I agree. I think they should be studied as an example of propaganda!

When my kids were little we had great holidays at CP. Swimming and biking. Lots of fun especially at Christmas.
I don't get Disney holidays - it seems like an expensive queue.

Onlytruthfulhere · 23/09/2025 21:01

You could similarly wonder if MN is a social experiment

CP a cult? I don’t see it. We went 4-5 times when the dc were little. It provided a good holiday for all of us at that time. CP market a good product to certain demographics.

Disney OTOH…

Well Disney's original vision was somewhere fun to go as a family where everyone enjoyed rides instead of just children on merry go rounds etc. Walt Disney Imagineering put huge amounts of work into making the parks as immersive as possible.

Nowadays it's full of shitty influencers with camera banging on about overpriced food. It's largely unrecognisable from how it was even 15 years ago.
