As a family we are going to Thailand in a few weeks. We'll be going to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Koh Lanta.

I have put off booking things before we go due to the weather being a bit temperamental so hoping we can plan better when we get there.

Are there any must sees/must do that people can recommend, also best places to book with?

Also any tips for first time travellers to Thailand? We are 2 adults and 2 teens if that helps. Thank you 😊

We had utterly dreadful weather in Kao Lak (near Phuket) in October- a week of it raining heavily 20-23 hours a day. We also had one day of very heavy rain in Bangkok. So, being flexible because of the weather. Loved Chiang Mai - went by sleeper from Bangkok. Train was supposed to have food, but didn’t so be prepared. Food market in Chiang Mai was amazing.

Thank you, yes I’m watching the weather closely and hoping the rain will just be in bursts when we get there so we can get out and about. We have all internal flights and accommodation booked, just no day trips yet.
I’ll take a look at the food market, thank you.

How long are you going for ?
You are trying to do North, central & south all in one holiday, which is a lot to see & do ?

Bangkok
Royal Palace
Reclining Buddha
Public ferry on river to Temple of the Dawn
Chattatuk huge market via sky metro
China Town for street food

Chaing Mai
Temple at the top of the hill
Lots of other temples & markets

Krabi
Beach & boats to other islands
Night market

Koh Lanta
Beach & night market

I prefer Koh Lipe, better for canoeing, snorkeling & scuba diving & Langkawi

We’re going for 2 weeks. Yes, we have a lot of areas covered so will only be able to do a couple of things at each but hopefully we’ll go back again and maybe concentrate on our favourite one.

Thanks for all these ideas, I’ll have a look at them all.

Teen DS loves the IconSiam mall, and could happily spend hours in there. Please note, he loathes shopping at home! We’ve now stay in the Milennium Hilton, a few minutes walk away, so he can pop in whenever we’re not doing something else.

We’ve had a lot of fun on the nighttime foodie TukTuk tour in Bangkok. He and DH did the viewing nets at the King Power building this year.

In Chiang Mai, we all really enjoyed the sticky waterfalls. And highly recommend Elephant Nature Park. Ethical, no touch, elephant sanctuary

We went with my sister and our parents haha, not as teens though. But we really enjoyed it. We visited Krabi, Koh Lanta (my parents really enjoyed the market there) and Bangkok ofc. I just really cross my fingers you'll be lucky with the weather! As for the best place to book with, you can take a look at ferry hopper for boat transfers https://www.ferryhopper.com/#/ (we were lucky enough to have booked with them and be able to check in real time the schedules and if they changed) and there is no extra fee at all.
