Just back from holiday with family/extended family. The holiday blues have hit big time 😕

Time to plan the next one 😁

So where do we want to go? Recommendations please!

We like:

FOOD! All inclusive is ok but sometimes ends up a bit samey so if AI then the types with some a la carte Restaurants as part of the package would be nice.

OR could eat out if local restaurants not too ridiculously expensive.

We love nice beaches/clear sea.

We don’t do very much but nice local nearby towns are nice to potter round.

Around/under the 4hour flight mark if possible.

Where is lovely and not too stupidly expensive? This one cost around £1,100 pp but we could go a little higher.

Give me something to look forward to please ☺️

croatia is stunning and ticks your boxes. Look at Rovinj

Italy? Greece? France?

I am doing a trip to the south of France and Italy for about £2,000 all in

Crete. Beautiful beaches, hotels and accommodation at all levels and budgets, lovely Greek food but other cuisines in the resorts too.

What time of year? September again? Lucky you, lovely time to travel!

If so then yes Croatia or Greece or Sardinia or Puglia… Greece will definitely be cheapest out of these. Croatia is pricey!! If you are foodie don’t go AI, it’s never a patch on eating at local restaurants both for the food and the experience.

For beautiful clear water I’d head to Corfu, Paxos, Kefalonia or Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos.

Thanks all! Yes we usually do September - we like it hot but high season can be unbearable in some
countries!

What is the £1,100 per person meant to cover?

  • Return air fare?
  • Accommodation?
  • Breakfast?
  • Lunch and dinner?
  • Drinks?
  • Outings?
And most important of all... how many nights? 🙏

Savoy Palace, Madeira. Many lovely restaurants on site and at its sister hotel next door on the beach front. Great Spa. About to book again, although we get it cheaper as we’re members of Interval International. Lots to do in Madeira.

MadKittenWoman · 18/09/2025 15:35

Sardinia is gorgeous, as is Crete. Lots to do and fantastic food.

thornbury · 18/09/2025 15:40

Crete - try Mitsis hotels

Istria would be my suggestion too. It’s really stunning, the food is fanstastic, lovely towns to visit and explore, beautiful coast. Swimming in the Adriatic everyday is blissful.

Everything. We usually go AI. I suppose we might spend a bit more if we buy extra bits and pieces -meals at the airport etc.

We want to do 10 days next time.

If you want nice food and a la carte, you'll probably get more for your money if you go SC or B&B in an apart hotel and then eat out once a day and stock up from the supermarket for easy food, ice creams, snacks and drinks etc.

A la carte AI is far more expensive and it's still a nice break as long as you share the load and don't do a load of unnecessary cleaning and tidying that people always use as justification to choose AI over SC.

I just returned from a hotel in Egypt, the temperature was fine on the beach. It has 6 restaurants that were easy to book plus a really good buffet and various bars. Excursions were very reasonable. I went on my own and it cost £750, it would have been £550 if I’d gone with someone else.

Turkey is another option and Zante prices are pretty good.

MyElatedUmberFinch · 23/09/2025 22:49

Sorry just realised you said under a 4 hour flight and Egypt is longer than that.
