We having the main part of our holiday in The Vendee but thought we'd break up our journey by staying in St Malo for a couple of nights first.

There are 5 of us, one of which is 8 months old. Am spending hours it seems trailing through tinternet!

Help recommendations needed!

Oh the Novotel in Dinard right next to St malo is fantastic! Really short drive from St malo and it's great - ona cliff so fab views and it's a Thalasotherapy hotel so has poola nd treatments. We stayed there a few years ago breaking up the journey to the vendee when ds was 2 1/2 and dd 18 mo. They loved running about in the garden where they had a little tikes slide etc round the corner from the main 'viewing area'. Oooh would like to go back.... It was pretty cheap too!

We always do this for a night before going to the Vendee and one night at the end too. St Malo is lovely. We stay at the ibis, not sure I'd recommend it though but fine if you're on a budget.

Where are you going in the Vendee? Gonna miss it this year - giving Italy a try! See what their campsites are like! Luckily I've developed a taste for pinot Grigio and Soave so I'll be ok!

we're going to St Jean de mont again, really liked it last time we went.

Ooh, let me know what you think of Italy, also price comparison etc etc.

this is the campsite - looks fab for the kids! www.portofelice.it It was only about £1000 for 4 of us ina 2 bed mobile for 2 weeks 14 - 28th August. not taking the car as it's only 45 mins form Venice and you can get a taxi or a bus from the airport. Looks like the local transport network is good so hoping to use that. probably won't get around too much as the dc's love kids cluba nd there are loads of pools and massive beach next to the site! My husband left us on Mother's Day (clue there to how nice he's being ) so this is the first time I'll be going it alone with the dc's!!! EEK!! Got a friend coming over for a few days tho so that'll be good. but yea, I'll report back. Booked through canvas life so i could use tesco vouchers so it wasn't very dear at all. Flying into venice.

Which campsite are you going to in St jean? I loved Acapulco!!!

This is the link to the Novotel in Dinard - it's fab!!! www.novotel.com/novotel/fichehotel/gb/nov/thalassa/1114/fiche_hotel.shtml

oh, just looked at rates - looks like it has gone up since I stayed there - we were only about £50 for the room and 4 of us stayed in it. Might be worth calling tho.

The Hotel Bristol Union looked pretty good to me, it's got great family suites (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) and gets good reviews.

We haven't actually stayed there - didn't need a hotel in the end - but it was top of my list after extensive research for a hotel for all 5 of us.

littlerach · 07/06/2008 12:07

We spent hours a couple of weeks ago doing this, and eventually got a room, but vcan;t think which hotel it is in.

We are off to the Vendee too.
never been before - is i t good?

Leslaki · 07/06/2008 13:11

Where you going Litterach? Love France! Love brittany and the Vendee!! yeah, it's good!!

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 08/06/2008 10:37

Hi Leslaki, your holiday plans sound FAB. I loved camping Acapulco too. This time we've hired a villa with private pool it hasn't worked out too expensive so we're really chuffed.

littlerach, I like the Vendee because it's got more of a holiday feel to it, iyswim. We did Brittany last yr and although beautiful it's not really set up for young families, also eating out is v pricey in Brittany compared to the Vendee. I'd highly recommend the Vendee. And French life too. Have you saved any Tesco clubcard vouchers?

ooh that looks lovely - especially liked the dishwasher!! Would love one on hols!! Take your dishwasher tablets with you cos we made friends with people at Acapulco whohad oneof the lovely big canvas vans with a dishwasher and she seemed to think the dishwasher tablets were hyper expensive in France. Don't know if they are or not as never had luxury of a dishwasher in France!!!
Whicj part of St jean are you in?

And YAY!!! got enought Tesco vouchers to book for next year - gonna see how flying n camping works out this yr first!
