Fly and flop

I might have 6 days in half term (Sunday to Saturday) without my two children.

Where can I feasibly go - I drop them at 5am Sunday 19/10 and can then drive straight to LGW and they get back at 8pm the following Sat 25/10 eve so I must be back to collect them then.

All ideas welcome. Ideally warm and a pool OR I go hiking - Europe or UK.

Have a look at Palma (Majorca). The pools will be starting to get chilly at the end of October, but on nice days you can go to the beach, where the sea will still have a bit of warmth left from the summer, and on cooler/cloudier days there is some great hiking in the hills just a bus ride away.

If you just want a fly and flop, Cape Verde should be nice at that time of year

Egypt is great winter sun!

I would go Sunday to Friday afternoon, to give you a bit of leeway in case of flight delays.

Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Madeira are great for hiking and swimming, will be warm at half term and all have a good selection of 'fly and flop' type hotels so you can go for a good walk each day, swim in the pool, sea or there's quite a lot of natural pools in Madeira and then laze around on a sunlounger in the afternoon/early evening.

Cyprus will still be warm in October HT but the pools and sea will be cool/cold.

Went to Turkey last October and it was still 25 with the sea 27!

Sea temperatures are my specialist subject, the sea is very warm in Cyprus in October, just about as warm as it gets (well a slight cooling from August/September, but warmer than all other times of year).
