Big birthday luxury holiday recommendations

oosha · 15/09/2025 15:34

Next year I am having a big birthday and want to do a few things that are memorable with my DS (6) who is ASD.

  1. Would welcome recommendations for great experiences that we could do together UK based or other
  2. Would welcome luxury overseas holiday hotel recommendations in Dubai for example
  3. Any other good ideas of stuff we could do that’s special

Many thanks in advance

@Just2 hard to say as trying to get some ideas. But I’m on a decent salary so the Dubai trip for example could be a budget of £7/8k for the week.

What type of holiday do you and your son enjoy?

Dubai wouldn’t be anywhere near my list especially with an 6 year old who is ASD

Port Lympne or similar (but I like animals, dont know what you like)

Beach, sea, swimming pool, chilled in the sun. Access to some activities like softplay. I think he would like the fountains, boat trip, maybe a day at the Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi? Important factor is access to variety of food as restricted eater.

we looked into the sleeping with the lions at London zoo, the dates didn’t work so can’t comment how good it is.

What are your DS’s triggers? Dubai would be a disaster for my DD but each one is different.

what time of year do you think going? Dubai in Summer is hotter than hell.
If he likes water, the Caribbean may work, hotels are often really nice, we had a kids club on St Lucia who took them out on catamarans, we went snorkelling.

Not a great lover of animals tbh and DS is not a fan either. Being outdoors is something we like, walks, swimming, some straightforward activities/rides for kids, aquarium maybe

I was thinking Christmas time. Will look into the other suggestions, thank you.
