October Half Term 2025

Hi all,

Both my partner and I work, and we’ve got a 5-year-old DS. We don’t have family or close friends nearby to help out, and this is the first half-term **where I’ve had to properly sort childcare (I’ve just graduated, so up until now it hasn’t really been an issue).

We’re in the Carlisle area and I feel like I’ve gone round in circles on Google without getting very far. Has anyone got any recommendations for holiday clubs locally, or tips on where else to look?

Thanks so much!

Do you have school mums you can ask? Or ask in the school office? Failing that try posting on a local Facebook noticeboard to ask.

I am in a different area to you. But I am also finding it very difficult to find anything. It seems that most run in April and summer but the other holidays seem to be non existent.

Maybe repost with Carlisle area in the title!

Your local council may have a list of childcare providers.

I do have local mum acquaintances, I have asked, it just feels like most activities are through word of mouth and not very well advertised.
So when your circle is small its tricky.
I have been on the local council website and checked out their HAF providers and registered interest, most childcare providers seem to only cover term time with exception of special needs schools.
Just seems like there isn't really any external support in this part of the world. Most seem to cater for older kids (7+)
