Off to visit NY and Philly shortly with a DH who has some walking issues. He’s ok for short spells. Can you have your recommendations of the best things to see and do?

We did the hop on hop off bus in Philadelphia as we were just there a day. That was good. There is a massive food market place - we went there for lunch. Loads of choice but got very busy. Think it was Reading Terminal market. We went to the prison as well. I don’t remember it being a ton of walking when we were there - you can get off the bus but it was a little walk from the stop.

@whatohwhattodo thanks. The bus sounds like a good idea.

Yes we were there over the summer and did the Philly Hop on and Hope Off Bus. It was good, but very hot when we went.

NYC is a lot of walking although I think you could do lots of things in the same area. I would recommend the ferry to Liberty Island and the Statue of Liberty and also the Ellis Island Museum is really interesting.

Philadelphia - you have to do the Rocky Steps (the Art Museum I think)😁We also visited the Eastern State penitentiary where they held Al Capone - it was really interesting.

Can't help with public transport I'm afraid as we walked everywhere but i do remember seeing lots of buses
New York - explore some of Central Park, especially by the lakes, it's beautiful (but huge so don't expect to cover much of it). Also, the Chelsea Hi-Line is worth walking along - there are lots of seats along the way to rest

Plan your itinerary so you’re doing things in a certain area every day, rather than all over the place. NYC subway is cheap and reliable, we used it practically every day when we were there to reach places that were just too far to walk to.

Ooh tip for New York. If you aren’t fussed about going to the SOL museum you can stay on the boat (bonus of great pics because only a handful
of other people left on it) and then just get off at Ellis Island. If you get an early boat it means Ellis Island museum is really quiet.

Thanks everyone for helping.
