Lagos or Tavira in Algarve for October half term ?

Hi , I have finally booked flight to Faro and Airbnb in Lagos ( didn’t book resort due to cost). I have never been to the Algarve. I have decided on Lagos because it looks like there are more activities and tours to do with my 7yo DD. I am hoping to do the kayaking tour and dolphin watching boat trip with her. But now I am having doubts about the weather , would the sea be too choppy for those tours to go ahead in that time of the year and will it be too cold for DD to dip into the sea ? Would Tavira be a better option at that time of the year ? I read that the sea is warmer there?

Personally, I love Tavira. Way closer to Faro and not as much at the mercy of the winds. Great little town and restaurants. You need to join the boat on the river in town for a short ride to the best beaches. Great food market as well and another beach a 20 minute walk.

Tavira is lovely but I would say it’s better for an adult or couples trip, I don’t recall seeing much there for little ones to do.

Tavira is beautiful but Lagos and surrounding area has more activities for kids

Lagos is lovely. No idea what the weather will be like in October but google says 23 degrees so like British summer I guess. The kayaks are pretty stable but you could take a windproof waterproof layer if you are worried about the chill from the wind which is what I would do if kayaking on a cool and breezy day in UK summer. The sea won't be much colder than now. It's a really easy drive along the motorway to get there.

I would go to Lagos. Make sure you go to Slide and Splash which my kids still talk about as their favourite thing in the Algarve.

Assuming this is the end of Oct for 1/2 term. I think the weather will be disappointing and uncertain. Would prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Thank you everyone. I will stick with Lagos and bring waterproof and windproof and hope for the best !
