Hi , I would love to go away for new year with my oh and 19 year old , we’ve been to Maspalomas & peurto Rico a few times but in April

Im just wondering is Gran Canaria warm end of Dec ? Is everywhere open ? I’ve been scanning the net for areas and hotels , apparently Peurto Mogan would be boring for my teen

Any advice on areas or hotels please ?

Peak season. Everything will be open
Also they are Spanish and their main celebration is the three Kings on January 6th not the 25th.
I'd go back to Puerto Rico.

Did you book Gran Canaria for Christmas? We did and I'm just looking at the videos of the snow they've had in the mountains this weekend 🤣

I just wanted to be warm for a week with some sunshine to ward off the winter blues!

🎄❄️❤️

The climate in the mountains is very different to the southern resort areas (assuming you're going somewhere between Puerto Mogan and Playa Ingles). I wouldn't worry as the weather forecast looks mostly warm and sunny for the rest of the year at least. Unless you're staying in the mountains?

We've been on trips from the south into the mountains and gone from hot and sunny to wet and windy, likewise in Tenerife, we've had a couple of failed attempts to summit Mt Teide and left the sunny south to find gale force icy winds. I had on jeans, leggings, long sleeve t shirt, fleece and hoody and it was still freezing cold.

We're going to Puerto Mogan tomorrow and the webcam shows lots on the beach and in the sea. We've been before many times at this time of year.

The storm brought snow and rain everywhere but the snow is up in the mountains and certainly won't be down in the southern beach resorts.

I'm going to GC for Xmas and we'll be staying up in the mountains! I saw some snow pictures online and got in a flap but contacted the hotel and they said it's gone now. The plan is to do some nice walks but we will head to the southern coast in the hire car if we need to warm up. I expect enough places to be open as quite a few tourists go there for Xmas and NYE. The big hotels probably do a gala dinner or something.
