Gulliver's in Milton Keynes is rubbish! Any other Wicksteed fans?

Went to Gulliver's Kingdom in Milton Keynes on Saturday. It was really run down and dodgy. All that money to get in and they can't be bothered to keep it clean, repair broken amusements or upgrade anything. Really, really poor.

I've got a season pass to Wicksteed park in Kettering. Fantastic place. I went yesterday (yes, a full amusement park weekend for daddycool. I've come to work for a rest) and we had a blast... again. Every time we go we have a really good time. They keep it really well, rides are great. Love the place.

We live near Wicksteads and find it really expensive.

The whole idea of the place was supposed to be for local people to beable to go with their family and have fun, me thinks that Charles Wicksteads would be turning in his grave seeing what it's become.

Maybe it's to much on my doorstep for me to see the big attraction in it? The chidlins enjoy going there, but we very rarely but tickets or wristbands as we would rather go further afield to somewhere with more rides etc.

And the car park fees really get me, they tried to charge us £6 one evening as we got there at 5.50 (10 mins before the rides shut) to use the boating lake with ds's model boat.
We ususally walk there

Yes, the cost is high but places like Gullivers are the same price and not nearly as good.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The play stuff is really good but the car park charge is excessive.

We have a seasons pass and it was pricy but I reckon we'll get our monies worth out of it.

DS and I go on all the rides so we make a hell of a day out of it. The only thing he doesn't go on is the biggish rollercoaster.

oh and he's only small so that's why we like the rides. I reckon after this year or next, we'll opt to go to bigger places with bigger rides.

They used to do a really good deal on the season pass, you could get 2 for an extra £10. We got one when it was that good.

I don't know, I think that the kids still love it and would go more, it's possibly me and dh that don't as we are both born and bread Kettering, so have been there hundreds of times and the rides seem a litlle dated to us.

Although we both still love the astro glide

DaddyCool · 02/06/2008 09:57

Astro Glide - is that the big wavey slide? DS goes nuts for that!

I like the bumper boats and the go-karts are good for a laugh.

His favourite is the little lady-bird roller coaster. He spent 1.5 hours on it yesterday .

The new flume will be good. I love those.

Thats the one

Ds used to be the same for the little roller coaster, he loved it!

We are looking forward to the new flume, hopefully it will work all the time and not keep breaking down like the waterchute!!

DaddyCool · 02/06/2008 10:09

that waterchute is ancient! DS went on it once but wasn't very taken with it.

I hate those big swinging boats. Every amusement park has them and I think they're miserable

We watched the show in 'Wickey's Cave' yesterday. It was awful but DS thought it was absolutely wonderful and that's all that matters .
