Bangkok - Koh Lanta - Krabi - itinerary ideas

Hello!

We have a few days in Bangkok in December, then 5 days in Koh Lanta and 3 in Krabi.

Any recommendations for day trips and tours? Bangkok I think we can figure out, but struggling a bit with Koh Kanta and Krabi as there seems to me so many options!

We want a half day at Following Giants and would like to see some iconic beaches and snorkel.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

It’s a long time since I was there but the standouts in the Krabi area were Railay Beach and the one before it - Tonsai? There was also a shell / fossil beach in that area. Loved Ao Nang, much preferred it to Krabi town. Either may have changed in the intervening years though!

Ko Lanta was wild (as in natural and untouristy) back then but I suspect is more built up now. Super chilled. Think you could do a day trip by Ferry to Ko Phi Phi.

And my only advice for Bangkok is to stay in the nicest hotel you can and as central as you can. It is a sensory riot of colours and smells, with a dozen lanes of traffic in the centre and completely chaotic, and I so wish I could’ve fallen straight into a swanky room.

The emerald cave is amazing if you don’t mind swimming in the dark.

You'll find plenty to do while you’re there - you’re tripping over tour guides and people sellling trips on long tail boats.

We’ve done loads of the trips and never had a bad one although I probably wouldn’t be in a hurry to go back to Maya bay - it’s chaos.

Bangkok is great for eating out. Also, go to one of the bougie rooftop bars - they’re cheaper than the equivalent in almost any other major city, and the Bangkok skyline is actually quite impressive.
