Hey everyone,
Looking for some advice and if there’s anything I'm
overlooking - we’re very fortunate to have a good maternity leave allowance in the UK, and our November baby will be our 3rd and final baby. With this in mind we have decided to maximise this opportunity and are planning to go travelling on my mat leave for around 6 months. We’ve been saving up for years with this as our goal, and want the trip to also give us a snapshot of possible relocation areas as we are no longer content with our quality of life here in the UK (mostly because of the weather, feelings of safety reducing constantly and increasing cost of living making it gradually more miserable).
The plan is to start in South East Asia, between Singapore, KL, Thailand, Bali and possibly either Shanghai or Hong Kong (not necessarily in that order) then onto Aus for two months. The final 3 months will be spent in the Middle East, between Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman, as these are the places that are high on our list to relocate too.
Has anyone done a trip like this with kids? Ours will be 4 and turning 5 on the trip, 3 and 12 weeks.
Are there any locations that people have really enjoyed in that part of the world that we should include? We have some friends in Aus so this should keep the accommodation costs down for us.
If visiting major cities in SE Asia, which vaccinations do people deem an absolute must?! (Weighing up possible side effects and likelihood of exposure to infection)
Also keen to hear of any particular hotels that people would recommend! And if Hong Kong or Shanghai Disneyland are worth a visit? We’ll definitely be visiting Universal in Singapore :)
I know many people would think of this as too much work with such young kids, but we think life is too short and we may aswell make those memories when the opportunities arise!
Any advice and guidance is so appreciated 🥰
