Given what's happened today, would you travel to Poland right now?

Probably not the border but yes to the major tourist areas

toilettraininghelp · 10/09/2025 13:17

Yes I think it will be fine let’s face it Russia have done worse here and actually injured members of the public with poison

ManyShapesOfPasta · 10/09/2025 13:18

Yes.

SummerEve · 10/09/2025 13:20

For goodness sake.

Rituelec · 10/09/2025 13:20

Im a massive worrier and I still plan going to Poland next month

But will assess right before.

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 10/09/2025 13:26

I’m going in November for work and feeling a bit nervous

Why? Anything could happen in the next 2 months. This sort of response is exactly what Russia wants. Don't give in to it.

GelatinousDynamo · 10/09/2025 14:25

Of course, yes. I would only reconsider if I were planning on staying very close to the border.

Poland is a NATO member, this was a one-off incident and the defence systems worked as planned. Even Putin is not insane enough to actually invade Poland.

Why am I feeling nervous - because I’m going to a country that’s got Russia sabre rattling it and who have today invoked NATO article 4.

MissAmbrosia · 10/09/2025 19:53

I have work colleagues there and no-one even mentioned it.

FourIsNewSix · 10/09/2025 20:10

The situation in Poland isn't any worse than it has been in the last three years.
Russia run a small provocation, tested the waters, nothing really happened.

Poland invoked article 4 - international consultations.

Unless you go to Rzeszow (the military airport close to Ukrainian border), it isn't more dangerous now in Poland than going to London.

We have all had to put up with Russian sabre rattling over the last 3.5 years, it's nothing new. The UK in particular has been singled out in this respect. As for the article 4 issue, "The Parties will consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the Parties is threatened". Again, we have been here before. Perhaps the silver lining of all this will be people finally waking up to the severity of the Ukraine situation in totality - I can't even count the amount of times posters on MN have insisted that it's not our problem....but it is.

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 10/09/2025 20:30

@SummerEveyes we have.

none the less this is Putin upping the ante in a country I’m visiting in a few
weeks time.

so despite your instructions otherwise - I am a bit nervous.

WaterfallSounds · 10/09/2025 20:35

Keep an eye on Foreign Office travel advice re Poland. That’s what I would go by at the moment.

WaterfallSounds · 10/09/2025 20:56

Donald Tusk has said Poland is closer to war now than at any time since the end of WW2.

justforthisnow · 10/09/2025 21:01

I'd keep it in view, as my work colleagues would say, and reassess closer to the travel time, based on the facts and Foreign Office advice.

It wasn’t an instruction and you know it.
