Has anyone been in November?
Are facilities still open if it’s out of high season ?
Also if you have, can you recommend an area , I’m wanting easy to walk to shops etc

Everything's open, winters are mild, cruise ships visit all year round.
I've spent 2 Xmases there, it can rain but that's what keeps it so green & beautiful.
You need to be in Funchal. Plenty of hotels, but some of them are out of town & you'll need the buses - cheap & reliable.

You can also use the Bolt app for taxis. We stayed in Porto mare hotel, and the taxis were actually cheaper than bus for 2 into main Funchal old town.
