You used to be able to rock up on the day but I've just looked at the website and can see your problem.

If there really is nothing at T4 There looks to.be availability at T5 parking (at a price) and perhaps on central area and you could get to T4 from there by bus or Heathrow Express if that is running but it will take time and be a faff.

The Prem Inn over the road from T4 has limited parking but whether you could pay to use that without a room booking don't know.

Good luck.

You could park at Hatton Cross Underground Station (it will be quiet with the tube strike) and take a local bus round to T4.

I drop/pick my dad up at terminal 4 quite often. The NCP car park is very expensive but easy enough. It was probably less than a year ago I last went in. You’re talking £30 for about an hour if I remember.

True, that crossed my mind as well but wondered, given the tube strike, if that would be open..then again the buses will be running so it should be open, whether that means parking will be quiet or whether it will.be busy because of more people on buses I don't know...It's not the biggest car park in the world.

TBH I'm scratching my head a bit as to why the LHR website is coming up so short on options for T4...it is a bit odd.

ProfessionalWhimsicalSkidaddler · 08/09/2025 17:15

It was close enough that I walked over. That was arrivals but I walked through departures as well.

GetTheWashingOut · 08/09/2025 18:08

I tried all sorts of combinations sort of trying from 6-7 really but ended up trying hours and even up to midnight. Nothing!
wondered about parking at a train station and getting in that way but strikes? We are coming from the midlands. I just wondered if any other non Heathrow car parks close by but google can’t offer me anything. Just would have liked a goodbye inside. I googled and it said you can drop off on the road outside
can’t remember the name. And it’s £6. But I couldn’t see anything we could rock up to on the day and just stay an hour. Have never been Heathrow before so a bit clueless. A premier inn close by but I doubt van just park without staying. Thank you for help so far,

If it's any help (it's not..) I had a look at T4 parking both directly through the Heathrow site and also through NCP and couldn't get anything sensible....all a bit odd.

notimagain · 08/09/2025 20:48

@honeyking

Ah, I think you may, perhaps, have solved the apparent mystery.

It looks like the on-line system won't let you pre-book a sub 24 hour stay, hence the computer saying no to any such attempted bookings....but looking at the narrative in that link you're right, it looks like you can still do it the old fashioned way of rolling up on the day and hoping there's space.

Fingers crossed..
..

I would seriously consider staying at the Premier Inn the night before and getting the shuttle bus from there to T4.

I would seriously consider staying at the Premier Inn the night before and getting the shuttle bus from there to T4.

That would remove the uncertainty/stress and for info if you use the T4 prem inn it's about a 5 min walk through a dedicated walkway from the hotel directly to T4 on the check-in level.

As mentioned, there’s a short stay car park that you just drive into, no need to book. There’s always plenty of space, but it is quite expensive. We live close by so between family and friends do this a few times a year.

Lemoncanine · 08/11/2025 17:27

Did you sort this out? We have a similar issue and can’t work it out! We ALWAYS get public transport to Heathrow but can’t this time, and it’s proving a bit of a conunudrum!

GetTheWashingOut · 08/11/2025 21:13

I meant to update this!!
we just drove in, to the short stay. I didn’t book anything in advance as just couldn’t find any available spaces online, or even anything for an hour or two.
Someone on here told me just to go to short stay (thank you so much for all your help on here, I so appreciated it!)
so the short stay was just over the road to the entrance of the airport! No distance at all. Look on airport website for short stay directions…
loads of spaces, easy to park,
and we had two hours and so went in with him and got a coffee, waved him off. think we paid £30
but I’m sure the drop off was about £7
it worked really well.

Thank you! That’s what we will do then.

This is the link to Heathrow I used, I see from 25 sept they renamed it all, but this is what I followed. I didn’t book, just turned up on the day. It was easy to drive straight in and get a space as people coming and going the whole time. It says £18 for two hours. I thought I paid £30 but I couldn’t have done. But you literally leave the car park and the entrance to Heathrow is across the road: really easy!

Hmm it won’t even try to give a quote for under 9 hours, and even at 9 hours says nothing is available… I guess we chance it!
