Up to 3 weeks solo, any suggestions?

I have some time between jobs coming up. I can go away for up to 3 weeks, but less is fine.

My budget is roughly £3,000-£4,000 all in. I fancied doing a small tour group but hadn’t realised how expensive these were.

Usually I like going to a remote island with a beach but feel that’s not really something to do alone.

Fancy an adventure?
How about Inter railing through Europe?

Or DD (24) has done 4 weeks in Australia for just over 4k - but she's also stayed with friends & family in various places...

I would either go inter-railing, Greek island hopping or head to Thailand and Laos where is very cheap to travel independently and you can book day excursions if you fancy a few group days and chats with new people.

My dd did 3 weeks interrailing on her own this summer (she won the trip as an award at Uni). London, Paris, Lyon, Turin, Verona, Venice, Salzburg, Vienna, Prague, Berlin, Dresden etc. She had a cinema theme, but had the most amazing time. Her award was 3k - and she had a first class interrail pass. With reservations, airbnb or hostel stays and food, she came well within that - but she is quite stingy with her own cash. A lot of places have free walking tours you can join if you need a bit of company. I personally would work my way round the coast of Italy by train in that time period.

There's a 10% discount on Interrail passes at the moment. Also see seat61.com for more inspiration.

I have done this, road trip from San Diego, up California, across to Arizona etc. It was amazing (I hired a hummer 🤣) I think if I had 3 weeks now I might do New Zealand or Thailand not sure.

Japan!!!
I went with my husband for two weeks but im going to go back for longer by myself.
I felt totally safe, it feels different which gives it a sense of adventure and there is so much you can do . You don't have to do the crowded golden triangle of Osaka Kyoto and Tokyo if you don't want to. There's beaches around if you want them, you can use Get your Guide to plan excursions. It is such a great place.
We wentbladt year and it was so cheap so that was an extra bonus.

HX cruises (on small ships, between 150 and 500 passengers depending on the ship) are very good at seating solo travellers together in the dining room and having a get together to meet other solos at the beginning of the voyage.
