Recommendations for Canary Island for October half term

I’’m thinking to go away in October half term to one of the Canary Islands with my 11 year old son. I’ve never been, so was hoping for some recommendations!

We enjoy the beach so am looking for as warm as possible. We also like exploring nice towns, sightseeing either nearby via local bus or day coach trip) and having nice Spanish meals out!

Any help would be much appreciated as not even sure which island to start looking at first!

Tenerife has the best public transport. Buses cover most of the island, they’re regular and reliable, and the map and timetable are available online. The south of Tenerife has noticeably warmer and less rainy wether.

Weather in the north is indeed worse
but as Puerto is a historic town, there are museums and gardens and old churches.

The museum of Science and the Cosmos in La Laguna is worth a visit
and definitely go up Teide

Interested. We have been to player del carmen in Lanzarote previously during October half term and enjoyed it. Would like to go back to the Canaries but try somewhere different.

Lanzarote has some very unusual landscape and a volcano which my DS enjoyed at that age. Puerto del Carmen is very central and has good beaches. Lots to see on the island.

Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria- always has the best weather, walkable, nice hotels.

If you want a nice beach fuerteventura or Gran Canaria are my favourites for that.

Lanzarote has plenty to do- we enjoyed the volcano trip so much that DS wants to do it again. Depending on interests there’s tours of cesar manrique’s architecture, water parks, hikes, cycling up and down car free seafronts, mini golf, rooftop cinema, vineyards.

Caleta de Fuste, Fuerteventura, we stayed at Barcelo.

Avoid PDLC in October. Could be cloudy, won’t be as warm as elsewhere. Mogan in Gran Canaria is a great shout, public transport is good there too
