Airline - Compensation with pre paid card

I was given a pre paid card by airline as compensation for a flight that we were supposed to take but was oversold so they
' bumped us off' . Has anyone had experience of these cards as using it is proving tricky. Can only use it for 3 months and restrictions apply. It seems I am unable to transfer the amount to my bank account.
Anyone got experience of these cards and how did you cash it in ?

It works like a debit card and you swipe it, I’m not sure that the balance can be transferred. Bit like a gift card

I'm wondering if that was legal ?

We were bumped last year. The airline booked us on the next available flight (the next day) arranged hotel accommodation with transport there & back, plus 3 meals. And they paid £25 each into our bank accounts.
