AMSTERDAM or BRUGGE area, good place to visit with nearby beach?

We live in Germany, not far from the Dutch border, and would like to have a day out at the beach tomorrow.

We have been to Alkmaar before.

Our DCs are 6yo and almost 4yo so would love a beach. We would love a nice town for having a wander and a cuppa.

Any ideas?

We are not too bothered about the shops being open, just wandering around the town is enough. With our 2 DCs we don't have the time/energy to take them shopping.

Noordwijk looks lovely, thanks. Think we will go there, if the weather is ok.

I used to live in Noordwijk aan Zee about 13 years ago and at that time a restaurant called 'iets anders' was superb. It is opposite Huis Ter Duin (you wont miss it, it's a 5 star hotel overlooking the sea).

Hope you'll have a lovely day!

Did you mean to link to your photos? I just looked at the lekkere wolken

lekkere wolken just sounds soo funny to my British/German ears.

Could not get the map link to work either, my computer said something about intranet einstellung. Never mind, I found it in the end.

We will set off early as our DCs are up at the crack of dawn anyway.

Thanks for the fantastic help. And the lekkere wolken

Ah, ok. I have never used that website before and thought that they were your private photos. Will go back and have a good nosy at them then. I was being very polite and resisted

Fab photos, Mr Dome has a very cute DS.

What does lekker mean? In German lecker means delicious, and I always thought that lekker was similar, but "lekker scheppen in de duinen" cannot mean "delicious digging in the dunes"

Thanks again for all your help, and Pickie too. I have written everything down.

Am off to bed now as we have an early start tomorrow.

Well, we had a fantastic day. Thanks for the tip about where to park, that saved us a lot of money, parking in the town is very expensive. We had a coffee out there at one of the bars.

The kids had a fab time, they loved paddling in the water and collecting shells. Have a look at my profile (if it is working, I could not get it to work earlier for some reason) I have put some photos on there.
