Hi - anyone got any suggestions for Bordeaux/Toulouse? Restaurants, cafes, museums, vineyards. There'll be 2 of us in Bordeaux but only me in Toulouse so suggestions for places that are good for folks on their own would be good. Only in each place for a few days and all accommodation booked.

Bordeaux is beautiful! Seemed very safe, pleasant people and magnificent Haussmann buildings.

I can recommend the wine museum - the Cite du Vin. It was very enjoyable - if only all museum visits started like this on the top floor with views over the whole city and a complimentary glass of excellent wine included in the ticket cost! Found it both entertaining and enjoyable, catering both to the tweens and adults in our group.

In Bordeaux, go to Le Bar à Vin. It’s amazing; a temple of wine. Subsidised by the local government, it serves wine by the glass only. Cheapest (a rosé) €2.50; most expensive was €12. I had a wonderful St Emilion for €8. They do fromage and charcuterie platters to go with. Great way to sample local wines.

We also enjoyed a boat trip down the river; can book online or there.
