Big birthday holiday ideas

I have a big birthday next year. I love the beach my 12yr old son and husband not so much! I have about £5k to spend on a nice holiday but not really sure where to go. I'd like a bit of luxury and a nice beach to relax (maybe after a couple of weeks sight seeing) but we'd like somewhere with plenty to do. Sightseeing, animals, theme parks. Not hiking or outdoorsy really. I was thinking borneo with singapore for a few days but dont think I can do it for 5k? Would love some ideas

5k total?

5 nights Shangri-La Sentosa (Singapore) room only in Feb half term with economy flights with Emirates via Dubai is about £5k all in. Sentosa has universal studios amongst other things so can be fairly busy. With BA for the same dates it’s twice the price. ETA you can add breakfast and takes it just over £5k. Food is cheap there!

what time of year?
£5k isn't going to buy 2 or more weeks of luxury for 3 people!

There are deals for 7 nights in Mauritius that could be in budget

Perhaps Thailand, seems you can fly there for around £2,500 either at Easter or in July, you can find a nice hotel with a pool for under £1000 for 10 days. Obviously not one of the big, mega plush, Western owned chains but there are many options in that price bracket, and food is delicious and reasonably priced. Split time between Bangkok and Hua Hin (beach) to remove the extra cost of domestic flights.

Look at Sri Lanka - if you can get a decent deal on flights, you can then get good prices on hotels even 5 star ones. It’s not really cheap but you can eat in locals type places economically, in fact the only thing that is quite expensive is alcohol so not for a boozy holiday.

another option is India, again once you get there you can stay cheaply, eating out in locals places is very reasonable and private taxi transfers and guides are cheap too travelling between cities if you don’t want to brave the buses and trains (we did the train, was ok)
