A heads up for strikes if you are flying to Italy in September

There are a series of airport strikes planned for various dates in September at which will seriously delay or cancel some flights. EasyJet is also having a 24 stoppage at Catania airport. Trains and other public transport will also be affected in various Italian provinces, September 6th is confirmed for a national strike.

I'm going to Fiumicino (Rome) myself in September and there is something happening on 14th which is our departure date, but it seems to affect Milan at the moment. But I suppose "be prepared" is the motto now.

I've also been reading about strikes by the ground handling operations company that Ryanair use at most Spanish airports between now and the end of the year.

I don't know what the practical effect of this will be (I'm fine if it just means they leave luggage behind as I would just go hand luggage only but worried about delays or cancellations) so it's put me off booking with them such that I've paid extra to go by jet2 instead.

We are flying to Lamezia on 20th and back on 27th - will keep my eyes peeled. 24 hour baggage handling strike is a bit of a worry. Especially as when we went to Italy in May DH's case went on a little trip of its own and he didn't get it back for 5 days.
