There's a special offer in the Times today. Would be really interested to hear from anyone who's been there.

yes! we just got back and it was fantastic! we wished wed stayed for 2 weeks.

huge beach - lots of space

two pools - one for adults one for family

good accom

good food

good kids clubs

the only bad thing was the late flight on the way home - flights were on time though and 20 min transfer

any thing else?

TuttiFrutti · 30/05/2008 21:47

Ooh that sounds really promising.

what time was the flight coming home?

Interesting you say the accommodation was good - I've been to Mark Warner Paleros Beach, and the rooms there were very basic, although clean and perfectly adequate, but that is 3 star and San Agostino is 4.

flight home was local time in Greece 10pm (8 pm in the UK) - pretty tiring although the kids sleep on the plane. flight out is fine.

our room was in the main hotel and was for four - we had a double bed and two singles for the kids. Our bed was in its own room within the room and was a good size. There was a balcony and lots of storage. It was cleaned and beds made every day. It was much better than the room we had in mw corsica one year.

its half board now unless you pay extra so check that when you book

its a lovely area too - we hired a car for one day and it was great to explore the coast

what is the offer? we are thinking of going again at the end of the season

TuttiFrutti · 31/05/2008 11:47

thanks newgirl.

Offer was in the Times yesterday - page 47. Sorry, don't know how to do links to it, but you can phone on 0871 7033906. Basically you save a different sum depending on which week you book, but it's quite good, about £300 on average per person per week.

I would see what price you get with the Times and then phone Avent Garde holidays 01932 854 666 - they usually can beat most offers for Mark Warner, Neilson and Crystal.

forgot to say to tutti - they were just opening a morrocan souk type place along the beach in stead of the greek taverna - it looked fun - lots of cushions - not in the brochure yet i think

Hmmm thanks SurfingMummy. Dh also got food poisoning at MW Paleros Beach 18 months ago, and we too put it down to bad luck, but maybe their food hygiene just isn't that good?

Will have a look at the Whistleblower report. Am less inclined to book now.

Is this the company you meant Ladymuck?

Avant Garde Travel ceases trading 25 October 2007)

Surrey-based independent agency Avant Garde Travel ceased trading on October 15, said ABTA.

The company, which has offices in Cobham, Esher, Surbiton and Weybridge, is unable to meet its liabilities. ABTA said it believes that all bookings were done on a retail basis. All claims will be handled by ABTA's claim handling partner, CEGA.

The family-owned company also traded under the following names: Ministry of Sound Holidays, Clubber's Guide, Ibiza Trips, Explorer Travel, Trips, Ibiza Trips, Italian Treasures, Mountain Wild, MV Golf, Ski World and The Trips.

Its Surbiton office specialised in the music and dance industry and counted clubs Manumission, Ministry of Sound and Cream among its clients.

Oh dear - yes I'm afraid it was. I thought that I hadn't seen any of its ads on Mumsnet recently - I think that it did sponsor the travel section for a while.

newgirl · 03/06/2008 10:44

oo i just read the whistleblower report

all i can add is that the kids i saw in boats all had helmets and life jackets and they all had bouyancy aids in the pool where they were kept in very shallow water.

the ratios of staff were right although i did not check their qualifications

and we didnt get food poisoning

our room was huge and immaculate - the bathroom was clean but the tiles were not to my taste to be fair. But Ive seen much worse in other hotels in greece
