Where in Greece?

Hello, hoping you can all help me as my heads in a spin!

Hoping to go to Greece in May 2026. We've been to many islands and Halkidiki before kids. Looking for recommend places that will suit a multi generation holiday. We all liked Skiathos and Kefalonia (so not these again).

  • Beautiful scenery
  • nice beaches
  • good food options (will probably go B&B)
  • Happy to get a flight then a short ferry
  • 4/5* Small hotel with nice views and on/very close to beach
  • Mainland possibly (Peloponnese?)
  • Happy to hire car
  • Flights from Stansted/Luton preferred

Guess we need to consider weather in May, as Northern parts/islands may be cooler?

Thanks so much 🙏

Have a look at Diapori Suites Hotel in Kardimyli, which is in the south of the Peloponnese. The hotel has family suites, amazing views and is walking distance to shops and tavernas.

If you liked Skiathos what about Skopelos? Short ferry ride

Hi! For the month of May, I'd suggest either Rhodes or Crete (weatherwise)!

ÚlldemoShúl · 26/08/2025 20:05

Consider Nafplio. In the Peloponnese but still not too far from Athens- around an hour and a half. Easy travel to some of the big sights like Mycenae and Epidaurus. Has a good buzz, lovely restaurants etc but not heaving with tourists. Very few British/ Irish tourists if that’s something you’d be looking for- seems to be mainly Athenians down for the weekend. We went at Easter and weather was lovely and split it with a few days in Athens.

Sea and pools will be chilly in May so personally I’d either go as far south as possible (Crete/Rhodes) or aim for somewhere with lots of sightseeing and non beach based activities. Napflio and surroundings would work well for that. Crete also has lots of non water based options.

Rhodes is beautiful! Currently near Lalyssos. Hotels on the beach and the most beautiful sunsets with Turkey in the distance. All inclusive so no worries about choices with food. Only 30 minutes transfer from airport and flew from Stansted. Weather is beautiful and people are so friendly. Really close to the Old Town and port so lots of opportunities to explore further afield too.

Rhodes. Pleased to see it’s been recommended a couple of times

Rhodes is a good shout for that time of year. As is Parga - so pretty - and Lefkada is really lovely (but not sure about the weather)
Cyprus is probably better weather wise - Adam’s Beach Hotel in Protaras is lovely

TwistedWonder · 27/08/2025 14:57

Agree that going early season you need to go the the more south eastern islands - Rhodes/Crete are the obvious ones but I’d also look at somewhere like Lesbos or Samos

Recommend Rhodes - one of our favourites! It’s beautiful so much so getting married there next year!

Our friends got married on Rhodes 3 years ago. It was a fabulous wedding
