What to do for 40th?

I have my 40th birthday at the end of November. The original plan was to go to New York but following a split from ex-DP the booking was cancelled. My childcare and annual leave is still booked so it seems a waste not to do anything. Any recommendations for a short break somewhere either in the UK or abroad for a solo female? I have really limited travelling experience and have only been abroad a handful of times so I'm in need of suggestions. Thanks.

It Would help if you said what you enjoyed doing? Do you want a city break, somewhere by a beach etc. At the end of November some of the European Christmas markets will be open, they are worth visiting. We went to Berlin and had a great time. Visited some markets and did some museums to.
British Airways and Jet 2 have some good offers if you book flights and accomodation together, may be worth having a look on their websites and seeing what they have.
