China & The Terracotta Army

My parents late 60's are looking to book a cruise to China, and want to see the Terracotta Army.

I'm looking for anyone who has done this before.

Any tips as to who to cruise with, time of year, or anything to point them in the right direction.

The Terracotta Army is in Xi’an, about 1,000km from the coast. It’s not a destination that you can reach via a cruise ship. There are companies (e.g. Princess) that offer overland tours that can be tagged onto cruises to see the Terracotta Army.

Or there are tours from companies like Wendy Wu that include a certain amount of river cruising as part of the itinerary. like this one… https://www.wendywutours.co.uk/china/tours/wonders-of-china.htm

They also have options that are overland in China, combined with cruises to other parts of Asia.

I’ve never been to China but I have a colleague who has used Wendy Wu twice for trips to China and raves about them.

China is a land of many wonders: ancient and modern, natural and man-made. This hugely popular tour visits them all

I agree it's not really feasible from an ocean-going cruise ship.

But I strongly disagree about Wendy Wu - probably the most worst tour I've ever been on.

It started with being taken to the wrong hotel when we arrived in Beijing, ended with our final dinner that had cockroaches in the meal - and lots of problems in between.

Tried to edit my post, but can't.
WW did acknowledge fault, & eventually we received c.10% compensation, but I'd never use them again.

@oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends Crikey, that sounds horrendous!
These are not cheap holidays. I’d be incandescent if I paid their prices and ended up in places with cockroaches in the food.

I didn’t cruise but did a month long multi centre with various stops in China, Hong Kong and Thailand with Kuoni. This included 3days in Xi’an to see the Terracotta Army. It was a fantastic experience.
