Algarve recommendation for solo parent with grandad

Im considering the Algarve for our next holiday with my 9yr old and my old Dad.

Any recommendations of lovely areas with nice shops or markets. A beach and pool a must. Upmarket area preferred.

Other families would be ideal for my daughter, too.

We had a nice time in Vilamoura. Stayed once at Domes Resort and second at the Crowne Plaza. People of all ages there. Lovely beach.

We go to carvoiero and ferragudo. Its a lovely area with nice restaurants and low key family bars. Very slow pace of life but lots to do. You can get a ferry over to portimao that takes ten minutes for a busier place with lots of shops, markets, bars etc
