Fresh travel inspiration please!

Anyone been somewhere theyd recommend in Europe that's not eurocamp or huttopia style, in a proper local place (ie with real villages, residents, culture, etc, not just purpose built tourist stuff) that is just a bit more upmarket/luxurious?

We've done and enjoyed the big french campsites and had a great time (kids 12 and 9 love them) but I'm getting, at the risk of sounding precious, a bit fed up with slightly shabby/basic accommodation with uncomfortable beds, etc. I don't fancy doing it again after this year unless there's a way to spend a bit more and upgrade a bit.

I guess I'm basically asking, is there anything in between this and fancy all inclusive resorts?

https://www.piccolograndhotel.com/en/hotel.html In Pizzo Calabria, We had a suite which could sleep 4 with a sofa bed, full kitchen and terrace, 2 bathrooms. Golf cart to take you to their beach club. Best food I ever had in Italy in this area. Tuk tuk tours. No pool though.

Have a look also at Baby Friendly Boltholes website. Even without babies they do a good run down on gite type complexes (in different countries) and you can search by facilities, age group etc. And then look up the individual places.
