Going on holidays with my children, 3 and 8 years old... both boys.. what did you find entertained them on flight? On holidays what did you pack which helped the holiday run a little more smoothly.

TIA

If you choose screens for the flight, please make sure they have headphones and, unless they need the loo, they don't run up and down the aisle (for their safety and that of the other passengers).

“what did you find entertained them in a flight”. My DS would be easy. Food, food and more food.

Have they flown before? And what kind of holiday are you going on? Where to?

They've both been on a flight.. youngest probably wont remember and delighted he has his own seat this time... the 8year old will be easy.. its the almost 3 year old im more worried about as he doesnt like to sit still and is very energetic

Its a 4 and half hour flight to tenerife...

Stickers, snacks, stories, tablet. We went to Calgary in April with a 2 and 6yr old, our 2yr old only slept for 45mins the entire flight but he did great, although I was anticipating it to be a disaster. Don't take anything with little bits that can fall on the floor and be lost like crayons etc, but maybe use something like a water pen/book. I also get a few new toys to have as back up if he needed distracting.

I had some great books from usborne when we flew when they were a bit younger - things to look at when we’re at the airport and things to do on the plane with stickers and colouring and puzzles - my 2 loved them I bought them off Amazon

I also ordered the inflight meals which seemed excessive we were only going to Spain but it was a novelty and gave them something to talk about, member of staff to speak too, and some more snacks!!!

I always make up an activity pack for my kids for holidays. A puzzle book, comic, note book, new colouring pencils, word search book……. Always keeps them entertained on the journey and also great to grab if we’re heading out somewhere for dinner to entertain them while we wait for dinner, or afterwards.
