I found this sock in the Duty Free area, I tried to find the owner but no luck! It is a very cute sock and would love for it to be reunited! ☺️

It's more likely to be reunited if you take it to lost property at Stansted. The likelihood of its owner reading this post is very small indeed.

Um, the parent of the owner could be literally anywhere in the world. I don't think MN is where you should put this!

FanofLeaves · 23/08/2025 15:48

Well, I lost an item of my child’s at Gatwick airport yesterday. I have filled in a form from lost property who advised me it could take days to locate (because Christ knows where he dropped the bloody thing) but that if they have any matches they will let me know.

If someone has picked it up and taken it thinking I might see it on some sort of public post I’ll be annoyed. I’m more likely to get it back through the official channels!

Maybe other people are different but barring it having extreme sentimental value I would not care very much if I lost a baby sock at an airport! Certainly wouldn’t be looking in lost property or mumsnet threads!

Yes I know! I couldn’t find lost property despite asking a couple of staff who didn’t think there was one, so thought I would try here as a last resort!

No harm done with me posting, just waiting for my flight which was delayed so thought it could be a slight possibility!

My son left a bag containing a top at LGW. £15 I had to pay to be able to collect it from lost property £39 if I wanted it posted back to my home address.

@Gemütlich81

it’s down near excess baggage I think, might even be at arrivals which is mad … yes it is

This is like these posts on social media, 'ive found a sock/key/toy/bottle and taken it home, message me if it's yours'. I always think people will have a better chance of finding it if you just left it where it was for people retracing their steps!!

I found a key. I left it on a post and put on our local page where it was.

I got loads of abuse for not taking it home. I mean, the person could’ve been retracing their steps for all I knew. It’s not like it had an address with it.

Sometimes, you just can’t do right.

😮 I almost hope my item isn’t found, it’ll be cheaper just to order a new one and scruff it up a bit.

heartsinvisiblefury · 24/08/2025 09:23

There are certain items that I think are worthy of worrying about the owner being parted with but a sock isn’t one of them.

InMyOpenOnion · 24/08/2025 12:02

I know this is coming from a good place OP, but honestly most people wouldn't really be bothered chasing up a lost baby sock. My DS used to pull them off all the time, we went through loads!
