Going for a few days. Probably October. First visit, should we stay in St Helier? Looking at St Brelades Bay too. Any suggestions of hotels. In our 50s and don’t want to be I. With coach parties of pensioners (as we probably couldn’t keep up with their pace)

Jersey is very easy to get around, either by walking or using public transport as there are regular buses round the island. St Helier is very vibrant and cosmopolitan, perfect if you want to be in the centre - great bars and restaurants here.

We stayed at the Merton Hotel, St Saviour - it was a great base as we could walk into St Helier through a beautiful park, which took about 25 mins. There were no coach parties there when we stayed - it was a very reasonable price, a large hotel - not luxurious but very clean, with great facilities and lovely food. I think they also have evening shows, but we didn’t attend any.

St Brelades Bay - a gorgeous beach, but not as much happening here, it depends if you want it to be quieter, or would prefer to stay closer to the centre. It’s about 20 mins from St Helier by bus.

Depends if you have a hire car - and also on budget. Les Ormes in St Brelade is amazing and arguably St Ouen snd St Brelade are the best beaches. St Aubin is well served by buses and is halfway between there and St Helier and has a range of accommodation and some great restaurants. St Helier is also a good place to base yourself and has a good beach as well. St Aubin is at the other end of the St Helier Bay so you have views over to town.

Its all lovely.

The Golden Sands at St Brelade is lovely and not too posh. A sea view room is a must, the back view is meh. Lovely food and service.
If you want more upmarket there’s the Brelade Bay too.

I think we might look at St Helier instead, particularly as it's October and I'm not sure how beach friendly it's going to be....

I’m sure you will have a lovely time wherever you stay - we really enjoyed visiting Jersey and would like to go back, as there’s lots of things to do that we never go round to.

It might be warmer than you think in October, but if you stay in St Helier, you will still have the option of visiting the beach by bus if the weather is nice 😊
